Magnesium Glycinate Problematic for Slow COMT?

“You can’t take magnesium glycinate with slow COMT.”
I’ve personally encountered some skepticism, like the above, regarding magnesium glycinate and Slow COMT, namely that magnesium glycinate can actually worsen Slow COMT symptoms.
I certainly don’t want to dismiss the concern entirely, but the issue here is in properly placing the conflict.
Firstly, conceding the concern, how could magnesium glycinate be an issue for Slow COMT?
The issue is not in the magnesium per se, but in the glycinate component of magnesium glycinate. In other words, magnesium glycinate is magnesium + glycine. It’s magnesium attached to glycine to facilitate its absorption. This chemical form is called magnesium bisglycinate.
